How to Protect Yourself from MERS-CoV
Quick Review on MERS (Corona Virus)
Symptoms: Fever, cough and shortness of breath
Transmission: Through air, touch, generally close contact
Target: All ages, including infants
Mortality: 3-4 out of every 10 patients may die
Prevention: Hygiene, avoid contact with patient
MERS-CoV or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is an illness caused the Corona virus. MERS affects the respiratory system (lungs and breathing tubes). Most MERS patients developed severe acute respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. About 3-4 out of every 10 patients reported with MERS have died.
Health officials first reported the disease in Saudi Arabia in September 2012. Through retrospective investigations, health officials later identified that the first known cases of MERS occurred in Jordan in April 2012. So far, all cases of MERS have been linked to countries in and near the Arabian Peninsula.
MERS-CoV has spread from ill people to others through close contact, such as caring for or living with an infected person and it can affect anyone. MERS patients have ranged in age from younger than 1 to 99 years old.

MERS vs. SARS
MERS and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) are often confused together having similar symptoms. SARS reached Singapore in 2003 and South Korea is experiencing a seeming outbreak of MERS. Both have flu-like symptoms and high mortality rate.
How can Food Supplement help prevent MERS-Cov?
There are currently no vaccine or cure for this diseases. Medicines available is only to help relieve the patient. The only option for anyone is to maintain a healthy body through what we eat. However, food can easily be tainted with chemicals that can do more harm than good. Preparing quality meals is becoming difficult because time has become a valuable commodity, which is spent not on kitchen but mostly at work.
Food Supplements has become the convenient solution to ensure you are getting the right nutrition and maintain homeostasis. Once our body reaches this balance, we are able to cope up and battle sickness and diseases, such as the MERS-CoV virus.
Prevention can be done by equipping the body with food supplements and exercise to help increase immunity. Laminine helps by increasing the body’s amino acids, giving the body a boost. Combined with Immune+++, both supplements can be taken daily before breakfast and at bedtime.
World Health Organization
Health Organizations around the world are aiming for prevention to avoid pandemic. Anyone can acquire the virus but a person who has a weak respiratory system or those who are elderly and are confined to bed are more susceptible to the virus.
According to WHO Assistant Director-General, Dr. Keiji Fukuda, “We really don’t understand the situation very well,” noting it was unclear if the disease could be spread by people without symptoms or what environmental factors might speed transmission.
Fukuda said camels are the only known animal reservoir for the disease, although there could be others. He added there was no proof MERS had mutated into a more dangerous form in South Korea, where 19 people have died.
Overall worldwide, 458 people have died from MERS from 2012 to June 2015.
